Jeanneau Sun Legende 41

Technical
Between 2011 and 2013 the boat has been thoroughly prepaired for our journey. Many technical items have been replaced or improved to make sure the boat would be reliable, and she has not let us down a single time!
Engine
Boat fitted with a Yanmar 4JHE 44hp engine in very good condition. 2800 engine hours. Gearbox and heat-exchanger checked prior to departure. Mechanical seal in raw-waterpump precautionary replaced 2013. New engine mounts (R&D). New drive plate (R&D)(the old one with springs as spare on board). New flexible coupling and Duplex stainless steel drive shaft. Rope cutter in front of the propeller. New innerbearing/shaft seal (2nd one as spare on board). Many engine spares and filters (See spares). 65A alternator with external Sterling regulator (both 2011). 100A Bosch alternator as spare on board (new). New exhaust hose. New raw water strainer, hoses and ballvalve. New engine panel from solid aluminum with automatic instrument light dimmer (rpm gauge and fuel gauge).
Electrics
Do not get fooled by large battery banks in boats. We have not had the need to run the engine to charge the batteries. We have a small battery bank, but matching equipment to keep it topped up and a low energy consumption. It is of no use to have 800A of batteries and just a 20A charger or two solarpanels. The energy balance must be correct. On a sunny and windy day in the Caribbean we can bake a bread with our electric breadmaker and have fully charged batteries at the end of the day. Large battery banks are nice for weekend sailing or when you are hopping from marina to marina.
Lots of cabling replaced 2011. Angle of the solarpanels can be changed to get most out of the sunlight. Original waterproof cable connections used on the solarpanels. Below the list of new and existing items installed.
1x 80A starter battery (2011)
2x 230A DEKA 6V deep cycle batteries (2014)
Victron MOSFET battery separator (2011)
Victron BMS battery monitor (2011)
Victron 300W pure sine inverter
TBS 800W pure sine inverter (2012)
Rutland 913 windgenerator 2011. The most quiet windgenerator!
Marlec HRDi combined regulator for wind and solar (2012)
2x 80W monochristalline solarpanels (2012)
Mastervolt 25A battery charger (110V/220V)
65A alternator with external Sterling regulator
Equipment
The equipment on the boat is up to date. All Raymarine/Raytheon instruments, new Raymarine 130 GPS (2012), Raymarine S1G autopilot (with rate gyro) and Raymarine radar/plotter (RL70C). All these are linked with seatalk, so you can program a route in the GPS (RC320)/plotter and have the autopilot track it! AIS data comes from the COMAR MULTI AIS unit (2012) with integrated antenna splitter. The Standard Horizon GX2000 VHF (2012) also displays this AIS information. Together with the external handset (2013), this is a perfect low energy consumption watch system. During our crossing, most of the time only the VHF with AIS was switched on, no other instruments. The VHF has its own external GPS unit. A loudhailer mounted on the mast and connected to the GX2000 for communication and fog-horn functionality. Icom PCR1500 SSB receiver is installed and uses the isolated backstay as antenna. With the SSB receiver and a laptop you can get Weatherfaxes, weathercharts, NAVTEX, RTTY, voice transmissions, etc. A new console compass is installed with a nice blue chart and additional lubber lines for sailing (2013). The boat is fully equipped with LED interior lights and navigation lights. All between 2011 and 2013. The only traditional light is in the fridge! Modern car stereo with internal and external speakers. Will play mp3 cd. External connection for mp3 player like I-pod. Or connect your telephone with Bluetooth to play your favorite music!
